Information coming soon.
Matthew was born in Aberdare but was brought up in Saundersfoot in the 80s and 90s. On finishing his A-Levels at Greenhill School, Tenby he embarked on a journey to Cardiff University to study Accountancy.
Whilst there he took a year secondment to Merck Inc, a Pharmaceutical company in Hertford, where he gained experience in both Financial and Management accounting. On graduation he was offered a position in the accounts and tax department of Grant Thornton LLP.
Here he completed his ICAEW examinations with first time passes, which as a result enabled him to go on as a tax senior to study for the Chartered Institute of Tax exams. On passing these exams Matthew became the office manager with another National firm - Haines Watts - whose role encompassed all areas of general practice.
In August 2006 Matthew and his family moved West and he joined L H Phillips & Co and became partner in February 2007 replacing Mr Leighton Phillips.
Matthew lives in St Clears and is married to Sarah and they have three children, Jacob, Maisie and Ryan. He is a frustrated golfer (not enough time to play!) and supports the local and National rugby teams. He is a keen reader of fiction, especially Matthew Reilly, Dan Brown and James Rollins, and has recently taken up squash to keep fit.
Eirian spent his childhood on the family farm in Rhydargaeau. He attended the local primary school in Peniel and then Queen Elisabeth Grammar School in Carmarthen. At the age of sixteen he left school to work on the family farm and studied agriculture on a day release basis at Pibwrlwyd.
Being a member of his local Vale of Towy Young Farmers Club for ten years enabled him to gain experience in varied activities from stock judging to competing in the YFC eisteddfod and public speaking as well as fundraising for local charities.
Having worked on the family farm for a number of years, Eirian decided on a change of career in 2000, and was offered a position with a local accountancy practice, where he studied for his AAT. On achieving the AAT qualification he commenced studying for the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) qualification, and in 2003 decided to enhance his experience by moving to a Swansea Accountancy firm. Eirian attended University of Wales College Newport on a day release basis and completed his ACCA examinations with first time passes in June 2005.
On gaining the ACCA qualification Eirian returned to Carmarthenshire, becoming accounts manager with an Ammanford practice, where his role included dealing with all aspects of general practice.
During these employments, Eirian gained valuable experience in accounts, taxation, auditing and business development in various business sectors. In May 2008 he took over a small accountancy practice in Carmarthen, which he developed and expanded over the next fifteen months, before joining L H Phillips & Co. as a partner in August 2009.
Eirian lives in Carmarthen with his partner Bet and two stepsons Tom and Llew. His interests include rugby, DIY and gardening.
