We caught up with Angharad Edwards of Llaeth Preseli Milk to find out more about her inspiring business idea and how LHP has helped them to thrive and adapt in business.
Tell us about Llaeth Preseli and how it came about.
I’m Angharad one of the founders of Llaeth Preseli Milk. The brand came out of our family-run dairy farm in New Moat Pembrokeshire. My partner Roger’s family has farmed here for over 100 years, passing down their passion and knowledge through the generations.
We sell free range non-homogenised (cream top) milk and flavoured milk directly to the public from a vending machine here on our farm. It’s got a creamy milky taste that most milks don’t when they’ve been through homogenisation, it’s a much richer flavour.
Our cows are cross bred, combining best qualities of each breed to bring the highest quality milk. We’ve been wanting to sell milk from the farm for years to give local people the opportunity to drink fresh local milk in their morning coffee and milkshakes – and now we’re finally doing it!
When did you join LHP and how did they help?
We approached LHP in 2019 needing help setting up the business, organising accounts and becoming VAT registered. Now, LHP manages all our accounts, VAT returns and anything else that pops up.
LHP are our farm accountants, we’re very happy with their work. It was crucial we had a personable accountancy firm that understood farming and farming life, knew their stuff and gave clear and concise advice. LHP ticked all of these boxes!
What are the key benefits since joining LHP?
Having an accountant that’s always been there on the other side of a phone, had patience with me learning the ropes with accounts and VAT and everything else that comes with running a business – has proved very important to me!!
It’s a real learning curve but LHP made managing my accounts much more enjoyable. Associate Director Lisa Oliver, Lisa Davies and the wider team in Haverfordwest have been great. If I were to describe LHP in 3 words it would be helpful, knowledgeable and friendly.
It’s worth its weight in gold for us to have friendly switched-on accountants down the road at our local town in Haverfordwest who are always around to give professional and trustworthy advice.
