Interview with Sian Timbrell of Pragmatic HR
We interviewed Sian, founder of professional services firm Pragmatic HR in Swansea, to find out how LHP helped them thrive and grow in business with tax, payroll and trusted business advice.
How did Pragmatic HR come about?
I started up back in 2013, following my work as head of HR in the care sector. Before that I was at director level in a successful HR consultancy.
Running my own business was always the vision. Sharing my HR knowledge and passion, creating access to affordable HR for businesses of all sizes and carving out a lifestyle for myself and my family.
Pragmatic HR helps SMEs access cost-effective HR. We offer ‘pay as you go’ solutions and retained /in-house HR support packages in all areas of HR and sector disciplines. We’re the only Wales HR consultancy awarded a ‘direct access licence’, allowing our clients access to an in-house Barrister.
Our work includes contracts of employment, staff handbooks, performance processes, flexible working requests, hybrid working models, risk assessments, health & wellbeing – and more! Our Senior Management Mentoring Programme runs in the background too. Safe to say, our team has been busy!
When did you join LHP, how have they helped?
I joined LHP in 2015 after meeting LHP director Janet Collins. I loved her approach and willingness to provide advice and guidance. We quickly signed up, both Pragmatic HR and my husband’s company Down 2 Earth Property Solutions, as clients of LHP. Janet and the team always go the extra mile and respond quickly to queries with knowledgeable advice. We trust them wholeheartedly.
At the time of first meeting LHP, we wanted a proactive, safe pair of hands to manage our finances. Our previous accountant was reactive and not forward thinking, which didn’t align to our needs.
Janet was different and LHP, a dynamic modern practice suited our growing businesses, Pragmatic HR was in its infancy back then. LHP guided us meticulously with confidence and without fuss.
What are the key benefits with LHP?
LHP always treat us professionally and uniquely. However big or small our query, our custom is valued and respected. We feel safe in the knowledge that our account is being well-managed and we’re receiving sage, relevant, up-to-date advice. LHP handles all our tax, payroll and business advice.
