Furlough Scheme Publication of Employer Names

Furlough Scheme Publication of Employer Names

On 26 January 2021, HMRC published names of employers who made claims under the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme (CJRS), since 1 December 2020.

Employers claiming on the CJRS (furlough scheme) will now have their employer names published on the website.

This information is available from 26th January for any claims made from 1st December 2020 onwards. HMRC is hopeful this will defer fraudulent claims and meet transparency commitments. Information will be published monthly.

The values published will be within banded ranges. However, if an employer can demonstrate the publication of this information would result in the risk of violence or intimidation to its individuals, they can apply for the data to not be published. These applications must be made by an employer and cannot be made by agents.

From February 2021 onwards, furlough employees will also be able to see claims made for them within the personal tax account. This will cover claims made on or after 1  December 2020.

HMRC has also advised in February they will also provide further information that will indicate the value of claims and company registration numbers (for those that have one).
